A procedure of sol-gel synthesis was developed and solid solutions of lanthanum manganites doped with calcium and yttrium,
containing 10 and 20% of yttrium, were obtained. The temperature and concentration dependences of the magnetic characteristics
of the solid solutions were examined to reveal exchange interactions in the doped manganites and reasons for their different
magnetic behavior. The properties of yttrium-substituted manganites vary nonmonotonically with increasing concentration of
yttrium.
