Abstract

PURPOSE:

This study was designed to repair a recurrent rectovaginal fistula using a new surgical approach that incorporates a Surgisistrade mesh.

METHODS:

A 63-year-old female with a history of recurrent rectovaginal fistula, which was treated originally by a traditional mucosal advancement flap technique, underwent a surgical procedure in which a biocompatible mesh was incorporated into the repair.

RESULTS:

The patient was symptom-free one-year after the procedure.

CONCLUSIONS:

Surgery for recurrent rectovaginal fistula incorporating a Surgisistrade mesh can be used as an innovative option.
