The results of computer simulation reveal a significant decrease in the number of relativistic protons dechanneled from the
(100) planar channel of a germanium crystal. It is shown that the mechanism of this decrease in planar dechanneling is related
to the influence of a continuous potential of the planar channel on the evolution of mean square fluctuations of the transversal
dynamical variables (coordinate, velocity, and energy) of relativistic protons.
