Abstract
The growing popularity of wired and wireless Internet requires distributed systems to be more flexible, adaptive and easily extensible. Dynamic reconfiguration of distributed component-based systems is one possible solution to meet these demands. However, current component models do not offer adequate supports for dynamic reconfiguration of distributed systems. In this paper, we investigate the requirements of dynamic reconfiguration on component model. Based on that, we specify a component model that is more appropriate for dynamic reconfiguration of distributed systems. This component model specifies design rules and conventions that are imposed on component developers, in order to efficiently support dynamic reconfiguration of distributed systems.
