Abstract
This paper shows the use of a visual environment for retrieval of images on the basis of similarity in the context of anthropological
research. The aim of the project is to correlate physiognomic data to craniological data through faces represented in artistic
work found in Pompei and faces of actual inhabitants of the same area.
