Required specifications for rolled materials intended for fabrication (without heat treatment) of spiral-seamed gas pipes
in strength category Kh70 using a continuous wide-strip mill can be maintained by complying with basic principles regarding
processes for controlled rolling of steels with finely-dispersed ferrite-bainite microstructure. High-strength steels should
have low carbon content, increased niobium additives, and increased additives of elements that facilitate formation of bainite
microstructure. Implementation of this process on the 2000 mill at the Severstal Cherepovets Metallurgical Combine enabled
production of rolled material with the following specifications:
σ
y
≥ 535 N/mm
2,
σ
u
≥ 640 N/mm
2,
δ
5 ≥ 23% (for longitudinal and transverse samples), KCV
−20 ≥ 160 J/cm
2, and B(IPG
−20) = 90–100%, as well as a maximum 7% nonuniformity of strength properties for transverse samples.
