Abstract
The evolution of the market towards broadband and IP-based services is a major driving factor for network operators towards
the integration of their so far separate data and telephony networks. This paper presents an approach to realize a mode of
Global Service Control for telecommunication network operators that provides simplified automated management of services over
a heterogeneous, multi-vendor network infrastructure. Combining existing management paradigms with new integration techniques,
the Global Service Control approach makes it possible to manage carrier-class quality services over the global multi-service
multi-media network.
