Monitoring of applications is important for performance analysis, visualization, and other tools for parallel application
development. While current Grid research is focused mainly on batch-oriented processing, there is a growing interest in interactive
applications, where the user’s interactions are an important element of the execution. This paper presents the OMIS/OCM-G
approach to monitoring interactive applications, developed in the framework of the CrossGrid project. We also overview the
currently existing application monitoring approaches in other Grid projects.
