Abstract

Linux is an enterprise-class operating system at the forefront of the development and support of the Oracle database. Linux is available and deployed on a wide range of industry-standard hardware platforms, from notebooks and desktops to the largest and most demanding mission-critical multiprocessor environments. In this chapter, we discuss the background of Linux and Oracle’s relationship with Linux, including the Oracle Unbreakable Linux initiative.
