The effect of a highway on the local pollution of the ecosystem of the Yuzhnyi Bug River near the bridge is considered. An
increase in Fe, Mn, and Cr concentration in bottom sediments is established in the river reaches downstream of the bridge.
No reliable increase in Pb concentration is recorded. However, the concentration of Pb in the soft tissues of Anadonta anatina
mollusks was found to abruptly increase downstream of the bridge. The highest concentration of Pb in mollusk shells was also
recorded immediately in the highway crossing the river channel.
