Surgical Principles
Bridging of large Achilles tendon defects with the proximally pedicled tendon of the peroneus brevis muscle. Reinforcement
of the transfer with the plantaris tendon, or part of the tendon of the peroneus longus muscle. (The technique was first used
by W. Blauth in 1968. Subsequent literature reviews revealed that White and Kraynick, as well as Trillat et al., published
a similar technique as early as 1959 and 1967 [3, 4]).
