Fundamental questions of studying the cyclic strength of structural materials under open circumterrestrial space conditions are stated. In order to carry out the study, tests are suggested with cyclic alternating bending of plane specimens in a multispecimen automatic experimental unit with an autonomous drive using solar energy.
