Die diabetische Neuropathie ist sehr häufig mit Depressionen, Angststörungen und auch Schlafstörungen assoziiert. Für die Prognose der Erkrankung wie auch die Lebensqualität des Patienten hat diese Trias summativ einen negativen Einfluss. In der Praxis sollte daher standardmäßig bei Neuropathiepatienten ein Screening in Bezug auf Depressionen, Angststörungen und Schlafstörungen erfolgen. Entsprechende diagnostische Instrumente werden in dem Beitrag dargestellt. Mit NEUROS steht erstmals ein patientengerechtes Schulungs- und Behandlungsprogramm für die klinische Praxis zur Verfügung, das gleichermaßen auf ein verbessertes Therapieverhalten, eine bessere Krankheitsbewältigung wie auch den Erhalt der Lebensqualität und Prophylaxe von psychischen Problemen im Zusammenhang mit der Neuropathie abzielt.

Diabetic neuropathy is highly associated with depression, anxiety disorders and sleep impairment. Summatively, this triad has a strong negative impact on the prognosis of diabetes as well as quality of life. Therefore, screening for depression, anxiety and sleep disturbance should be standard in clinical practice. Appropriate diagnostic tools are presented in this article. “NEUROS” provides a new, patient-orientated education and treatment program, aiming in equal measure at improved self-management and ability to cope with the disease, maintenance of quality of life and prevention of psychological problems associated with diabetic neuropathy.
