In a series of five patients severe untoward effects were noted in two patients, including one death which the writers attributed
to the antabuse-alcohol combination. These tests indicate caution in the use of antabuse. A second series of clinical trials
indicates that small initial doses of alcohol are safer and can produce adequate reactions.
