Abstract

This article presents the main specifications of arc furnaces that have been installed in the electric steelmaking shop at the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine. One feature of these furnaces is that they can be operated with the use of liquid pig iron. Here’ the amount of pig iron in the charge can be as high as 40%. The use of liquid pig (up to 30%) shortens the refining operation in the furnace.
