Abstract

1.  The occurrence of polythelia was defined in a mentally defective population. 1.5 per cent. were found to show traces of this atavism.
2.  Examination of the findings suggests that polythelia is no more prevalent in the mentally defective than in the general population.
3.  Consideration of the association between polythelia and amentia suggests that polythelia is an incidental rather than a coincidental occurrence.
