Abstract

Phase unwrapping finds many important applications in MRI, ranging from field mapping to flow imaging. This paper presents a novel algorithm for recovering the absolute phase from modulo-2π phase, the so-called phase unwrapping (PU) problem. The proposed phase unwrapping method adopted the simple criterion of array-sequencing dependent on the phase values of images. This advent algorithm eliminates the search for residues, placement of branch cuts, or generation of quality maps for unwrapping the phases. The self-developed program has been tested with both simulated and experimental data, yielding better results than some of the state-of-the-art methods. The algorithm was proved to be robust to noise and easier to be implemented.
