Abstract

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive (FOP) is a very rare inherited disorder of connective tissue, characterized by progressive ectopic ossification and congenital malformation of the great toes. It is also known as myositis ossificans progressiva. The prevalence is approximately one affected patient in 1.64 million people in the United Kingdom.
