A single crystal X-ray investigation of yafsoanite resulted in
a = 12.632(2) Å, space group
Ia3
d, cell content 8 × Ca
3Te
2Zn
3O
12 (with some Pb for Ca),
R = 0.075,
wR = 0.028 for 186 independent reflections. Contrary to the results of an earlier investigation, yafsoanite was found to be a garnet type oxide with the atoms Ca, Te(VI) and Zn coordinated to eight, six and four O atoms, respectively.
