An ungual phalanx of an osprey (Aves, Accipitridae Pandioninae) is described from the early Oligocene of the Mainz basin in
Germany. The specimen is among the earliest fossil records of this avian group and the first from the Paleogene of Germany.
Es wird die Kralle eines Fischadlers (Aves, Accipitridae Pandioninae) aus dem Unteroligozän des Mainzer Beckens beschrieben.
Das Exemplar zählt zu den ältesten Fossilnachweisen dieser Vogelgruppe und ist der erste Nachweis aus dem Paläogen Deutschlands.
