Abstract

Adhesive joints are increasingly used in the assembly of components in electronic, automobile and aerospace industries. A standard joint design is of sandwich type where two parts made from the same or different material are bonded by a thin layer of adhesive. The reliability and fracture characteristics of the joints under mechanical and thermal stresses during processing and service constitute a major technical problem
