Abstract

Haemangioma of the rib is an extremely uncommon condition. Preoperative diagnosis of a rib haemangioma is difficult as most patients are asymptomatic and the lesion is discovered incidentally. Most often the identity of the tumour, as in our case, can only be established after excision biopsy. Excision is therefore recommended not only to establish a diagnosis but also to prevent enlargement of the tumour and development of symptoms It is a safe procedure with no reported adverse post operative outcome or recurrence following excision.
