Today the “orthodox“ treatment for the infected TKR is a two-stage revision. As a consequence there are too few reports of
the outcome of the quicker, potentially simpler single-stage revision procedure to permit a balanced view to be taken of its
place. However, we believe that as at the hip, successful single-stage revision is certainly possible although technically
demanding. Our results have been encouraging and we continue to use this procedure. The literature, such as it is, suggests
that the results are no worse than those of a two-stage revision10,11,13,14 for what remains a challenging complication of TKR.
