The Rømer mission has recently been approved as the next mission withinthe Danish Small Satellite Program.The scientific payload will consist of two separate experiments,the MONS and the Ballerina payloads. The primary objective of Ballerinais to provide accurate, real-time positions relayed to ground for

70 Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) per year, and to study the temporal andspectral evolution of the early GRB X-ray afterglow. As an additionalgoal, Ballerina will detect and study bright X-ray transients, inparticular X-ray novae and micro-quasar systems. Rømer is currentlyscheduled for launch in late 2003.
