Abstract

1.  We have shown that heat treatment of reinforcing rod after cooling in continuous production lines and heat treatment by special heating considerably improves the mechanical properties of the rods.
2.  The best heat treatment consists of quenching the reinforcing rods in water and then tempering them.
3.  Heat treatment improves the mechanical properties of reinforcing rod made of steel No. 5 to those corresponding to the reinforcing rod of Class AIII (and in some cases to the requirements of Class AIV). Heat treatment of reinforcing rod made of steel 35GS produces mechanical properties required by Class AIV (and in some cases the mechanical properties corresponding to Class AV).
It should be noted that heat treatment of reinforcing rod does not produce the relative elongation required by Class AIII.
