Curriculum vitae. R. C. A. Sengers was born in 1939 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He studied medicine at the University of Nijmegen. He did research work at the Department of Biochemistry, where he prepared his thesis (1967). After being assistant at the Department of Cyto-Histology he started his training in Pediatrics. Since 1974 he has been a member of the staff of the Department of Pediatrics of the Nijmegen University Hospital. Main interest in inborn errors of metabolism and particularly in

Curriculum vitae. A. M. Stadhouders was born in 1927 in Boxtel, The Netherlands. He graduated in 1956 from the Faculty for Natural Sciences of the State University of Utrecht. In 1958 he was nominated Head of the Department for Electron Microscopy of the University of Nijmegen. In 1968 he was appointed Lecturer and in 1980 Professor in Submicroscopic Morphology at the Medical Faculty of the Nijmegen University. Current main topics of research interest are the pathomorphological reactions of muscular tissue in various neuromuscular disorders, in particular with regard to the involvement of ion shifts in the mechanisms of cell death.
Curriculum vitae. Frans Trijbels was born in 1937 in Heerlen, The Netherlands. In 1962 he finished his study at the

R.W.T.H. Aachen

(Diplom-Chemiker). His thesis (1967) was entitled:

An enzyme study of the metabolism of allantoin in various organisms

. Since 1967 he has been a staff-member of the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Main topics of research have been disturbances in the metabolism of amino acids as well as disturbances in the mitochondrial energy supply. He is at the moment specially interested in the Cerebro-Hepato-Renal Syndrome (Zellweger Syndrome).
