Abstract
Standards for broadband wireless multimedia communications in the 5 GHz band have being developed in Europe as well as in the US and Japan. HiperLAN/2 is a radio based local area networking solution that is intended for connecting mobile users with the backbone network wirelessly. HiperLAN/2 is being developed by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). This paper will present HiperLAN/2’s system design and performance. Furthermore, comparison is made with the American standard the IEEE 802.11(a).
