Abstract

This paper presents field data and numerical modelling results for structural controls on copper skarn mineralization in the Fenghuangshan copper deposit. Tensional fractures overlapping the igneous contact zone are well-mineralised and developed as a result of far-field tectonic stress and/or contraction of cooling igneous intrusions. Results of numerical modelling suggest that these dilatant zones were important for fluid focusing and ore formation.
