In the last decade, ontologies have become a hot issue in the conceptual modeling community, which is chiefly due to the emergence
of new application areas such as Electronic Commerce and the Semantic Web. The implementation of large-scale information systems,
as well as their semantic interoperability, seem to be only tractable on the basis of ontologies as abtract domain models.
