Vom 1.1.1977–31.12.1979 wurden 72 Nierentransplantationen durchgeführt. Alle Empfänger hatten nach einem Schema Bluttransfusionen erhalten. Nachuntersucht wurde das Auftreten lymphocytotoxischer Antikörper, die Wartezeit und die Transplantatfunktion. Bei 65 % der Patienten traten nie Antikörper auf. 72% der Transplantate überlebten 1 Jahr; 69% 2 Jahre. Die durch unser Transfusionsprogramm verbesserten Resultate kamen nicht durch eine transfusionsbedingte Selektion zustande, da die wenigen Reaktoren zwar länger warteten, alle aber doch noch ein Transplantat bekamen.

From January 1977 through December 1979, 72 kidney transplantations were made. All recipients received transfusions according to a special plan. The development of lymphocytotoxic antibodies, the waiting time, and the function of the transplant were checked. Of the total patients, 65% never developed antibodies. After one year, the survival rate of the transplants was 72%; after two years, survival was 69%. The better results after our transfusion program were not achieved by selection. A few high responders had to wait longer, but all of them finally received a transplant.
